We are delighted to announce that the 16thInternational Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics (ISRFG 2018) will be held on September 5-7, 2018 at the Tokyo University of Agriculture (TUA) in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan.
Rice is the world’s most important crop, staple food for more than 3 billion people mainly in Asia and Africa, and will play a key role in sustaining the world’s population which is expected to grow more than 9 billion in 2050. Rice research should continue to advance and make significant contributions to cope with the challenges facing agricultural production brought about by climate change due to global warming and other environmental issues such as the degradation of agricultural lands and water resources. The 16thISRFG will serve as a venue for reviewing past accomplishments, present challenges, and future directions in rice research.
Since this symposium was first organized in 2003, it has consistently gathered about 400 participants every year. Now on it’s 16thyear, we hope to encourage the next generation of rice researchers to join us in this symposium. Together, let us chart the direction of rice research with the world’s top rice scientists, and contribute in global efforts of producing high yielding and nutritious varietiesof rice to feed the world’s growing population.
This is the first time we will hold the ISRFG in Tokyo, Japan which is also the venue of the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
We wish you could join us in this wonderful meeting, meet colleagues, make new friends, exchange information, start collaborations, establish networks, and enjoy the sites and attractions of Tokyo.
